First serious interesting in writing a book. Bought a bunch of how to write a novel, how to write fantasy, how to write a mystery. Changed reading style to start analyzing my favorite authors and books in the genres to understand what makes them good reads.

I’ve already written several outlines, and one first draft over the last 8 years. This is my first time hearing about nanowrimo. Joined, wrote a 96K words in 30 days. Burned out so hard I close the scrivener file and forgot the book existed for 3 years. Until I found it on accident later.
Unnamed at the time. Main character is Rebecca, modern phd student, involved in a murder mystery. Random paranormal incidents occur even though they were not in the original outline. — essentially Rebecca and the Museum Murder, the version where no one dies, the murder never actually appears in the book.

Todd is a phd student struggling with loneliness, and being separated from his family. He has a rare magic which he has to keep hidden and separate from his wizard skills. He meets a Fae and has to run through a southern swap to navigate the Fae’s return to his people.

Made the paranormal more integrated into the story, decided I rather liked 1920’s Cleveland from Todd and the Fae much better than the modern version, and rewrote it to be in the 1920’s instead. Also rewrite the murder so the original character survives, and a different character doesn’t die, and the murder is actually a good person but under a spell. My brain is a little weird, it’s ok.I had fun.

Alexander is the detective from Rebecca’s story and I had an idea involving a Pirate and just ran with it. It was fun. Lots of plot holes like how Alexander a city detective ends up on the pirate ship…

Ivy is a plant lover and half fae and she has fun with magical plants all over Cleveland, solving problems for her community, friends, and family. It’s a series of short stories about 1 chapter each that when combined make a neat a book, with some working. Ivy also meets a Druid and he is woven into her story.

In the last rewrite Rebecca was plagued with a friendly ghost who would not get out of my head, so I rewrote most of the story to make it more about his death, and solving it, and made the original two characters and their death/life issues their own stories.

Professor marries an orc who’s been glamored/cursed by a witch to be human with no memory of who he is. He meets his mate in the human Professor Maybelle, and they have a child together, and after almost 30 years of marriage his curse starts to release, leaving them both confused by his changes. He has to deal with his new reality, and she’s not sure who she’s married to. It’s a puzzle.

So the mermaid is a seamstress and the adopted daughter of a very reach family that lives on Millionaire row in Cleveland. John is an archeology student and the son of another family on Millionaire row. They is an arranged marriage planned between the two of them by their families. They grew up together though, and have feels, and are happy with the agreement. John gets accused of a cheating scandal at the university, which up ends his life, and Jessica discovers she’s a mermaid. They are both facing being ostracized by their families. Do they work together and solve the problems, or fall apart.This is from John’s perspective and focuses on John’s issues.

I forgot his name, the pirate, I gotta go look it up in the file. Anyway the Alexanders story of sorts, but told from the perspective of the Pirate. Pirate falls for Alexander while avoiding arrest, and solving the mystery of the mystic isle of erie, an island that appears and disappears in Lake Erie.

Wrote this outline a few years earlier but it was 6 stories in one, so this is breaking Jeffery and the dragon out in this version. Jeffery is a wizard raised on a ranch here in Cleveland area. He wears a cowboy hat and boots so he doesn’t forget where he comes from. He’s a wizard and a problem solver. he runs a business similar to a PI out of Cleveland, helping people who need help and rarely gets paid in money. He inherited the building he lives in and his office is in from family, so his bills are minimal. His first few clients are friend in family, and in this case his best friend Moyna. She’s discovered that her abusive father is not her biological father, and that she is half dragon. She needs to meet her biological father and learn how to control her shift, before she gets her self killed or someone else. Moyna is also running from an arranged marriage with a Russian mob boss whose family is terrorizing Cleveland.

Princess is Moyna’s mother and the week before her arranged marriage with an Irish mob boss in Cleveland she escapes and meets Deacon, they have a two passionate nights before she is found and kidnapped by her family. He’s a dragon, she’s his mate, and she’s pregnant with his daughter ( neither knows ) and they are separated for 20 years, before Moyna discovers the truth and goes searching for him. This story is about how they met, and how they are reunited.

The professors daughter and her secret relationship. The daughter is Sherri I think, she’s a tech wizard, loves combining human tech and witch and wizard magic to create new tool. She has a secret relation ship with an Orc female and at this point in the story doesn’t know she’s half orc too.

In one of Rebecca’s stories the bad guy was john, but then by the end of the story he wasn’t the bad guy anymore, and in another version Dean Anderson the dean of the University program she’s enrolled in, is the murder, but by the end of that version he wasn’t the bad guy either. This is what his story turned into, it’s an outline and some paragraphs from the previous version of Rebecca’s story. he’s under the influence of a tied clip and cuff links that make him promiscuous, instead of his normal devoted self to his mate. He’s a were wolf, and his fated mate is human. They have 4 month old together when he inherits the magical items, and his life gets wrecked.

This is the story I wrote a while back before the house fire, and was lost. I rewrote it with my HatTrick game in mind. Technically it’s version 2, but my memory isn’t great, and I don’t have version 1 anymore. Jessica is a human librarian, and she works for the university library, She meets Jason a werewolf hockey player, there mates, and fun relationship chaos ensues. Game is designed to not force a relationship, the player chooses how it unfolds. I had fun writing a lot of different conversations and dates, and I thought it might be fun to make it into a game with the extra ideas as additional choices.

This is Jefferies story, told from Moyna’s perspective with a focus on her and her struggles including the arranged marriage (which happens at the beginning of the story). She has to choose to annul it .divorce or stay married. It’s complicated.

This is rebecca’s story from the perspective of the ghost, with a focus on his struggles.

Decided to rewrite and publish this story. Also started a comic to try and learn new art skills. I really struggle with editing without making a whole new story.

Stories I need to find and figure out what year I wrote them
Shirley Rebecca’s landlady has her own story. Alexanders detective partner has his own story, one of the police officers that I key reusing in each of the stories at the primary beat cop, has his own story. Moyna’s husband the Russian mob boss has his own story, from Todd’s story Fred and Marge have their own story, and Marcus and Todd’s mother have their own story. Rebecca and Todd both have second stories where they go to Europe to excavate archeology digs related to ancient magic.
